WAXING & SUGARING
Waxing and sugaring are two techniques used to remove unwanted hair by removing the hair follicle from the root.
Wax is hot and applied on the skin in the direction of the hair growth, then removed with a strip in the opposite direction of the hair growth. Wax is great to use on large body parts that are not sensitive, such as the legs, arms and back. It is also great for brows since it has an easy application process that can result in a high level of detail needed for brow waxing.
Sugar is a water-soluble substance made from honey, lemon and water. It is warm and has a consistency similar to taffy. I will take a ball of sugar and work it in my hand while wearing special textured gloves. I will then apply the sugar to the body part by spreading the sugar against the direction of the hair growth, and then remove the sugar using a quick flinging motion. The sugar is removed in the direction of the hair growth, which results in less hair breakage. I will continue to use the same sugar ball to remove the rest of the hair for that body part. Sugar is great to use on smaller, more sensitive areas since it does not adhere to live skin. It is most commonly used for bikini, Brazilians and underarms. Sugar is also easily removed with a wet towel since it is water-soluble.
